Checking engine oil level

• Park vehicle on flat surface.
• Check oil level in cold condition or check oil level 30 minutes after the engine is switched off.
• Oil level is OK, if it is between MAX & MIN line. It's Not OK if above MAX Add oil if below MIN.

Note:-

• After oil level inspection, properly push the dip stick completely inside to avoid leakage
• Tighten the oil filler cap properly after adding oil.

Check coolant level

• Check coolant level should be in between MAX & MIN line in reservoir.
• Add distilled water to reservoir if level less than MIN line.
• Do not fill water above MAX line.
• Check radiator cap is properly fixed on radiator.
• Do not open radiator cap when engine is hot.

Water Separator Warning Light - Drain water from fuel filter

• If Water Separator Indicator light is ON after starting the engine, then drain the water from fuel filter.
• Driving the vehicle with this light ON will cause damage to fuel pump, injectors, fuel lines & engine.

Checking Battery Electrolyte

• Clean the top of the battery for any dust particles.
• Observe the fluid level in the battery as shown. It should be between MAX & MIN level.
• If electrolyte level is less than MIN, then top up to MAX level with distilled water only.
• Do not fill more than MAX level, as it can cause severe damage to battery & vehicle.
• Take utmost care to avoid the electrolyte coming in contact with skin, eyes or vehicle body paint.

Wiper Blades

• Keep wiper blades clean and replace if worn out
• Check functioning of wiper motor
• Top up washer tank with washer fluid.

Lights

• Check the functioning of all lights (headlamps, indicators, reverse & tail lights, etc.).
• Check the fog lamps which are critical for driving in foggy conditions and night vision the monsoon. It also alerts oncoming road users in such conditions.

Note: Whenever replacing the bulbs, replace with the wattage as mentioned in the table.

Tyre Air Pressure

• Inspect the tyre pressure regularly.
• Tyre pressure should be corrected only in cold condition.
• Refer the air pressure label on driver side vehicle B-Pillar for correct pressure

Brake Pedals

• If you observe squeaking noise in front brakes, then it may be due to 'worn-out' condition of the brake pads.
• Brake Pads have 'wear' sensor, which rubs against the brake rotor creating the squeaking noise in case the brake pads are worn-out.
• If it happens, check the brake pads and get it replaced immediately.
• Prolonged use with squeaking noise can result in brakes wearing & subsequent failure of the brake.

Wet/Icy Roads

• Wet roads reduce traction of wheels and will can make the car skid.
• Anticipate visibility getting blocked in case of water splashes.
• Do not stop suddenly if windscreen is splashed with water. Slow down and switch on hazard lights to warn motorists coming behind.

Flooded Roads

• In floods, take extra care and precaution while driving.
• In case of driving through roads with high water level, ensure that the exhaust muffler is above water level to avoid engine from stalling.
• In case the cabin area is flooded, avoid running your engine.
• Check for open pot holes & manholes while driving on flooded roads.
• Check operation of windows and door locks, during such drive, for exit in case of emergency.

Safe Driving Speed

• Maintaining a safe driving speed is very crucial in monsoons.
• Drive at a slow speed. It helps the driver to be prepared for sudden stops to avoid encounter with disabled cars, debris and other hazards associated with wet weather driving.
• Driving at speed through puddles may push or splash water into the engine and cause it to stall
• If the vehicle must be driven on a flooded road, washed-out roads, or parked in an area that can become flooded, note that water can get into the brakes and reduce their effectiveness. If the brakes do not work well during such time, drive slowly and gently press the brake pedal several times until the brakes dry out and start working normally.

Safe Distance

• Maintain safe distance from other vehicles while driving.
• In case of skidding, apply the brakes with a steady, light but firm pressure.

Slow down sufficiently when approaching a curve

• Slow down sufficiently when approaching a curve.
• Applying the brakes or sharply turning the steering wheel while driving on to the curve could cause the cargo to shift, the tyres top and the vehicle to tip onto its side.

Drivers should never use mobile telephones

• Drivers should never use mobile telephones or car phones in any mode other than hands- free while driving. Doing so is dangerous.
• Using a mobile telephone while driving could result in an accident because the person driving would not be paying full attention to their surroundings.
• While driving, should there be a need to use a mobile telephone, first stop the vehicle in a safe place.
